This very friendly club was founded nearly 45 years ago.  It currently has a membership of 68, and its members come from Thakeham and the neighbouring villages of Storrington, West Chiltington, Washington, Findon, Ashington, Pulborough and High Salvington.

We all garden on different soil, which presents different problems, so tips and ideas are shared amongst us.  Some of us are new to gardening and some are seasoned gardeners.

We have a variety of very interesting speakers each month – see this year’s programme.  Our guest speakers bring slides, and some have plants for us to buy at a very low cost.

The club holds 2 Plant Sales each year in May and October.  These Sales are well known throughout the neighbouring villages, and we have a very large stock of plants for sale, plus a tombola and a cake stall.  There is usually a long queue outside the hall before opening time, and the plants sell in a short and very busy time.

The Club also holds a Flower Show in July and has sections for vegetables, flowers, photography, handicraft, art and cookery.  The show is open to all members and non members.

The end of year is celebrated with a Christmas Party in December.  This includes a 2 course meal and after dinner entertainment – all for a very modest charge.

We meet at Thakeham Village Hall at 7.30 pm on the second Monday of each month, except January.

The subscription for 2020 will be £20.00.
